Creating Data Sources

You must have account access to the data source you are connecting to before proceeding.

  1. Click “Create” in the top left and select “Data Source”.
  2. Select Google Analytics, Google Ads, or Search Console. When adding a Search Console data source, choose Site Impression => web
  3. Give the Data Source a name “{Client Name} Analytics” or “{Client Name} Ads” or “{Client Name} Search Console”.
  4. Repeat for all data sources.

Creating Report

If using a GA4 Property:

  1. Open up “CLIENT NAME REPORT (GA4)”.
  2. Click “Make a copy of this report” in the top right.
  3. Select an analytics, google ads (if they have one), and a search console data source.
  4. Give the report a title “{Client Name} Report (GA4)”.
  5. Add clients logo and customise colours.
  6. On page 3  SEO (organic), ensure the data source for “Which keywords are people searching” is set to the Search Console.

If using a UA Property:

  1. Open up “CLIENT NAME REPORT (UA)”.
  2. Click “Make a copy of this report” in the top right.
  3. Select an analytics, google ads (if they have one).
  4. Give the report a title “{Client Name} Report (UA)”.
  5. Add clients logo and customise colours.

Reviewing & Fixing Fields For UA Report

When you duplicate a report, charts can often display incorrectly.  Compare your new charts to the original CLIENT NAME REPORT.

The most common issues are:

Who is your Audience – Page 2:

  • No Data – Check that the user has Demographics enabled in Google Analytics (Audience>Demographics>Overview)
Alternatively: Account does not have enough data to display results yet. Just wait.
  • Global – Change “Sorting” row#1 to Users.

SEO (Organic) – Page 3:

  • Showing % instead of number – In the Data tab, click edit (pencil) next to the metrics and make sure Type is set to “Number”

Landing Pages / Sources – Page 4:

  • Sorting Order – In the Data tab, change “Sorting” (Row & Column) to Pageviews
  • Filters Missing – We do not want to see (not provided) or (not set) so make sure a filter is applied to ignore “(not”
(Social Page) – Make sure the social network filter is applied to all social charts (except “Which social networks send traffic?”)
